Formation of NECD Ltd to progress a national e-conveyancing system

January 14 2010

National E-Conveyancing Development Limited (NECD Ltd) was established to develop a national e-conveyancing system for land titles (as a precursor to its implementation).

NECD Ltd will oversee the assessment of each of the Victorian Electronic Conveyancing (ECV) system and the work of the National Electronic Conveyancing Office (NECO) to determine the extent to which they are suitable to form the basis of a national e-conveyancing system.

The establishment of the Company represents a major commitment by the Governments of NSW, Queensland and Victoria towards implementing the national electronic conveyancing reforms agreed by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG).  All three governments are represented on the board, as are the Australian Bankers Association, the Australian Institute of Conveyancers (represented by Geoffrey Adam, CEO of AIC SA), and the Law Council of Australia.
